Work Experience Opportunity: Technographer

The Process Management Lab (PML) seeks a technographer to support our client workshops to help them improve their mission-critical processes. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants direct experience in process improvement in a consulting environment working with real clients.

Tour of Duty: Fall 2022 Semester with opportunity to continue through the Fall and Spring
Time Commitment: 45 total hours, 20 hours per each set of workshops
Academic Credit: 1 credit hour, pass/fail, independent study possible

Personnel Selection: 8/29/22
Orientation Meeting: 8/31/22


Initial Training

  • Complete Process Management training (1 hour)
  • Complete Workshop Facilitation Using Mural training (1 hour)
  • Review agenda and facilitator guide from previous workshop (1 hour)

Workshop Support

  • Create Mural boards for workshops
  • Represent organizational processes using Mural during client workshops
  • Pose questions to workshop participants to gain a better understanding of client’s process
  • Interact with workshop participants and team members
  • Contribute to final reports describing workshop findings and recommendations (about 10 hours)
  • Make time for 2 five-hour workshops during the workday about 2 weeks apart (scheduled for the client’s convenience)

  • Communicate and deliver value through process improvement
  • Leverage personal experiences and lessons learned
  • Utilize peer relationships for feedback and validation
  • Complete a 1-hour independent study during your first semester with the PML (for OPWL students new to the PML; not required for OPWL graduates)

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good listener
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work with organizational leadership
  • Proficiency in Google Suite
  • Ability to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences.
  • Ability to receive direction and complete assigned tasks
