Purpose:
To address the concern of personal injury or property damage caused by skateboards, skates, in-line skates, bicycles and other similar vehicles (hereafter referred to as “vehicle(s)”) without prohibiting their use altogether. This policy is in no way intended to discourage the appropriate use of these alternative modes of transportation.
Policy
- I. It shall be prohibited to utilize these vehicles in a manner that may cause damage to persons or property on campus. This prohibition shall include using the vehicle along any surface not normally intended for such use. Examples of inappropriate areas of use include but are not limited to benches, handrails, stairs, curbs and similar areas. In addition, usage of these vehicles inside of buildings is prohibited. It is also a violation of this policy to use any of these vehicles in or around any facility which designates the prohibition by signage. Violation of this policy by a guest of the University may result in a demand to the violator by campus security or an appropriate University official to leave the University area. Violation by an employee or student may result in disciplinary action.
