Since this time, OSP has spoken with many of you about how to manage cost share on your projects. Based on these interactions, OSP has updated its guidance documents to provide additional details and examples that should be helpful.
The first guidance document is entitled “Cost Share Life Cycle for Sponsored Projects” and is available at: https://www.boisestate.edu/research-osp/cost-share-life-cycle-2/. This document defines cost share and explains, at a high level, how it is managed during the different phases of the sponsored project life cycle.
The second guidance document is entitled “Cost Share Transaction and Reconciliation Cycle” and is available at: https://www.boisestate.edu/research-osp/cost-share-transaction-reconciliation-cycle/. This document provides examples about how to initiate transactions for cost share projects using different funding sources (e.g., appropriated, local) and how to clear up funding deficits on cost share projects. This guidance should be particularly helpful to college and departmental administrators.
