Claudia Guerra Labarca was born in Santiago, Chile, and emigrated to the United States in 1995. Driven by her deep appreciation for her cultural heritage, she earned her undergraduate degree summa cum laude in Spanish, with a minor in Latin American Studies, from Boise State University, and her master’s degree in Spanish and Latin American Literature, from Universidad de Barcelona. In 2022, she joined Boise State University, where she teaches a range of upper and lower division courses, including intermediate Spanish and advanced conversation. Her own experience as an immigrant, and as a bilingual and bicultural individual, drives her interest and passion in the education and promotion of the Spanish language, and the integration of literature and culture into her classroom.
