Interfolio’s Review, Promotion, and Tenure Tool
Boise State University implemented Interfolio’s Review, Promotion, and Tenure (RPT) module beginning with the Academic Year 2023-2024 tenure/promotion cycle. In Spring 2022 the RPT module was recommended by members of the Decision Support Planning and Implementation Working Group after a review of competing products and possible in-house solutions. The Office of the Provost selected Interfolio for their faculty-focused and integrated module to streamline and digitize the tenure/promotion review process. This RPT tool will automate existing workflows and processes for faculty promotion and tenure into a unified content management system. This will streamline the RPT experience for candidates and reviewers at all levels within one secure and configurable system.
While the method of submitting and reviewing candidate materials has changed, all promotion and/or tenure content requirements remain the same.
The Interfolio workflow platform supports the Provost’s goals of simplifying the application process for faculty while promoting compliance and access. The stages of implementation and project updates can be found on this page. As the project progresses, job aids, resources, and other training materials will be updated on this page.
What is Interfolio?
Interfolio hosts a suite of faculty information system modules geared toward higher education institutions. Interfolio modules in use by Boise State will be accessible via a single, streamlined platform for managing the RPT process, and faculty will have access to a streamlined tool to assemble, label, arrange, and submit their formal packet. The system helps keep the review process professional and standardized and ensures that all faculty members have a consistent means to represent their activities and accomplishments.
RPT case reviewers will be able to review applicant materials, solicit external and internal letters of review and recommendation, share candidate materials with the appropriate University administrators, and upload promotion and tenure recommendations within the new platform.
Modules Implemented at Boise State
Review, Promotion, and Tenure: RPT is a secure, online collaboration platform that provides customizable tools to manage all of the documents, workflows, data, committees, communication, and outcomes associated with review-based academic decisions at Boise State.
Faculty180: Faculty180 is used by Academic Affairs and the colleges to track faculty data. Use of this module is required for the application process. This online tool is designed to help Boise State faculty collect, organize, and display their research, teaching and service data for the purposes of annual reviews, promotion and tenure, and specialized reports such as curriculum vitaes and National Science Foundation (NSF) & National Institutes of Health (NIH) biographical sketches. It is aimed at providing an easier and more efficient way for colleges to manage large reporting processes in a less time-consuming fashion.
Dossier: Dossier is an optional online platform for individual faculty to collect and curate professional materials in a single, secure file management module. Faculty may curate academic materials and evidence in Dossier throughout the year and easily integrate them into their RPT case.
