Anthropology Department Scholarships

The department has several scholarships that are available to undergraduate and graduate students.

John H. and Florence P. Schaertl Archaeology Scholarship

The following criteria must be met to be considered:

  • GPA 3.0.
  • Full-time Anthropology degree seeking student at Boise State University.
  • Upper division standing or graduate level.
  • Proven interest in archaeology.

Wesley R. and Mary Hurt Archaeology Research Fellowship

The following criteria must be met to be considered:

  • Recipient must be a senior or graduate student.
  • Applicants must provide a 3-4 page prospectus outlining their proposed research that includes a description of the problem, time line for completion of data collection, analysis and report writing, and a proposed budget.
  • Award may be made up to $1,000.
  • Recipients are expected to provide a report detailing the results of their research that include an acknowledgement of the Hurt Fellowship.
  • This award is based upon quality of proposals received and may not be awarded every year.

Charlotte and Perry Silver Fellowship in Archaeological Studies

The following criteria must be met to be considered:

  • Recipients must be undergraduate seniors or graduate students.
  • Applicants must provide 3-4 page prospectus outlining their proposed research that includes a description of the problem, time line for completion of data collection, analysis and report writing, and a proposed budget.
  • Awards may be made up to $1,000.
  • Recipients are expected to provide a report detailing the results of their research that includes an acknowledgement of the Silver Fellowship.
  • This award is based upon quality of proposals received and may not be awarded every year.

Debacker Fellowship

The following criteria must be met to be considered:

  • This gift be used to support an archaeology graduate student research in the Department of Anthropology.
  • The fund will be awarded annually to an archaeology graduate student enrolled in the Department of Anthropology who has an interest in the study of anthropological archaeology and a demonstrated record of achievement in that field.
  • Recipients will be full-time students (9 graduate credits are considered full time), or part-time (minimum of 5 graduate credits).
