Bachelor of Applied Science Program Frequently Asked Questions

What are the eligibility requirements the Bachelor of Applied Science Program?

To be accepted into the Bachelor of Applied Science Program, you must have completed an Associate of Applied Science from a regionally accredited college or university or have a minimum of 40 technical credits. The minimum GPA requirement for acceptance to Boise State is a 2.0. All prospective students must meet with the BAS academic advisor before admittance.

How many credits are required for this degree?

Students must earn a minimum of 120 credits to graduate from Boise State University with a bachelor’s degree. Certain Areas of Emphasis or minors may require more credits.

Will I be required to take a math course?

Yes, a Foundations of math course (FM) is required for the BAS degree. You may take the Accuplacer exam to determine what level of math you can take if you haven’t already filled your math requirement prior to starting in the Bachelor of Applied Science Program. Certain Areas of Emphasis or minors may require additional math courses as well. If you have taken a math course at a previous institution, math credits may transfer.

Am I required to take a certain number of credits each semester?

We highly recommend you take courses at your own pace depending on your work/life balance. While there is not a credit requirement for this program, we recommend you take at least one course a semester. If you are receiving financial aid the number of credits you need to enroll in depends on the types of aid offered to you and what aid you have accepted.

Will I be able to take all of the classes I need in the evening, online, or on the weekends?

Yes! You can plan your BAS degree around weekend, evening, and online classes. The Bachelor of Applied Science has two flexible pathways to complete your degree. You can complete your degree fully online through our online pathway or through a combination of online and in person classes through our flex pathway.

How do I get started?

You can set up an appointment with one of our Student Success Coaches to get more information and see if the BAS program is the right fit for you. Apply to Boise State University as a degree-seeking student. Send in your official academic transcripts from all schools that you have attended.
