Kerri Webster, a poet and member of Boise State’s MFA in Creative Writing program, will present a reading at 7 p.m. March 16 in the Hemingway Center’s Visual Arts Gallery. The creative writing program is partnering with The Cabin, Boise’s nonprofit literary center, to host the event.
The reading is free and open to the public. A reception will follow at The Cabin, located at 801 S. Capitol Blvd.
Webster’s newest collection of poetry, The Trailhead, will be released by Wesleyan University Press on March 6, 2018. Webster is the author of two other books of poetry: Grand & Arsenal (University of Iowa Press, 2012) and We Do Not Eat Our Hearts Alone (University of Georgia Press, 2005), as well as two chapbooks: Psalm Project (Albion Books, 2009), and Rowing Through Fog, selected by Carl Phillips as a winner of the Poetry Society’s Chapbook Fellowship (2003).
Webster received the prestigious Whiting Award in 2011. Her poems have appeared in numerous journals including Poetry, Kenyon Review, Boston Review, Guernica, Antioch Review, Gettysburg Review, Indiana Review, and Gulf Coast. In his review of The Trailhead, poet Shane McCrae wrote, “Kerri Webster has my favorite living ear.” In addition to teaching in the MFA program at Boise State University, Webster has been a teaching writer at The Cabin.
