What is concurrent enrollment with Boise State University?

Boise State’s Concurrent Enrollment Program allows you to earn college level credits while still in high school. Classes are taught by pre-approved high school instructors who use Boise State’s curriculum, texts and grading scales to create a true university educational experience in the classroom. Credits earned are recorded on a Boise State transcript and transferrable to college or university of your choice.

Who’s eligible to participate in concurrent enrollment?

Students should have a cumulative GPA of 2.7 to participate, and a 3.0 is recommended for students. For students who are under 18 years old, you need to get a parent or guardian’s permission to participate.

Why take Courses through Boise State Concurrent Enrollment Program?

Named one of the nation’s top universities for innovation by U.S. News and World Report, Boise State University is a metropolitan research university of distinction with award winning faculty and state-of-the-art facilities. Boise State University was Idaho’s first public institution to be accredited by the National Alliance for Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships, which ensures college courses offered in high schools are equivalent to the courses offered on campus.

What are the benefits of concurrent enrollment?

Concurrent enrollment provides one of the most affordable ways to earn college credits while giving you a head start on getting your degree. Once you register for a Boise State course, you’ll become a part time student with access to university resources including a purchasable student ID card, access to the Albertson’s library, academic tutoring, Boise State’s game center and great student discounts. Above all, students get a taste of what to expect before coming to Boise State.

What courses are offered through concurrent enrollment?

Concurrent enrollment courses are offered in a variety of subjects, from economics to physics at our partnering high schools in the Treasure Valley. Classes vary by school, so check out our website or visit your high school counseling office to see what courses are available at your school.

How do I register for a class?

Students can register online. For step by step instructions, see our “how to register” page on the concurrent enrollment website or contact our office for more information about the registration process.

How has concurrent enrollment made an impact on your life?

Concurrent enrollment has helped prepare me for college because it’s given me the knowledge of what it’s like to be part of discussions in classrooms, what homework is like and how all of that is different than a high school classroom.

The Concurrent Enrollment Program through Boise State allowed me to get a jumpstart on my college education, save time and money, and allow me to get a feel for what a college class would be like while still in high school. Concurrent enrollment classes were a little scary to me at first, but it just gave me the confidence to go into college and know that those credits are there for me.
