About the project

Past studies have found that students from lower-income homes and lower socioeconomic backgrounds tend to participate less in classroom or public college settings and receive lower grades than more affluent students. However, there is some evidence that online classes provide a better experience for these students by offering more diverse engagement opportunities and better accessibility. Ms. Lancourt hypothesizes that students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds will perform better in online courses and will analyze this in several online Political Science courses at Boise State University.
