The Broncos, who were already the reining Mountain West champions from last year, won the game in spectacular fashion with a 4-0 sweep in the best of 7 series. The Broncos had already gone undefeated in the regular season 15-0. The two wins in the postseason drove their overall record to 17-0, leaving the Broncos the undisputed champions of Mountain West Rocket League for two years in a row.

The victory was also a banner accomplishment for Emiliano “Durtho” Flores, who just months earlier was a brand new recruit for the Broncos. Durtho is joined by his teammates Gabriel “Gil” Reynolds and Kyle “Instinct” Ady for the Fall 2022 season. All three of them have made a tremendous run so far this semester having standout showings in tournaments such as HUE and CRL.

Their victory on Monday night earned all three team member an official championship ring to celebrate their victory. But, as Boise State head coach Chris “Doc” Haskell noted, there are still many other tournaments in progress that the Broncos are still looking to win. In a phone call the night of the MW finals, Doc encouraged the team to keep winning.

“Let’s see how many tournaments titles we can get on that ring,” said Doc.
