Fall 2022 Housing Applicants: Resources and FAQ’s

Hello Broncos,

Thank you for applying for Housing! We understand you may have questions about what happens next. Please see your relevant section for resources and FAQ’s. If you need additional assistance, please reach out to us at Housing@boisetate.edu or call us at (208)447-1001

Students with a Community Assignment

When will I know what bedroom type I’m in?

If you have received a Fall 2022 Housing Community Assignment, then you will receive your bedroom assignment in early June. This assignment will let you know what floor your room is on, what your room number is, and what bedroom type you are in (single or double).

When does Roommate matching open?

  • For First-Year Housing applicants with a community assignment, roommate matching opens on April 21 and closes on May 12
  • For Sophomore and Above housing applicants with a community assignment, roommate matching opened on March 31 and closes on April 20.

What if I want to change my Community Assignment?

Please note that you were assigned to your given community assignment based on availability of your preferences. If you did not receive your top choice, or second choice, etc… It is because they were full at the time of your assignment.

If you wish to change community assignments, please email us with your:

  • Full name
  • Student ID number
  • Your Current Assignment
  • Your Preferred Assignment

And we can record the request. We cannot guarantee that any changes will be made as it all depends on availability. However, so long as your request to change is active, we will move you when/if space is available and notify you afterwards. If you change your mind and wish to stay in your current assignment, please cancel your request with us as we may not be able to undo any completed requests.

If you wish to cancel your Housing or Housing Application:

Please log in to your Housing Portal. Navigate back to your completed Fall Housing Application and select the option within that says “I wish to cancel my application” If you are having difficulty doing so, please email us for assistance. Please note that cancelling no later than June 14 will entitle you to a refund of the $100 down payment.

If you have questions about housing payments and financial aid:

Housing Billing will be posted to all student accounts on July 1, 2022. Please note that all other questions relating to financial aid or loan disbursement must be directed to the Financial Aid office.

Students on the Waiting List for Fall 2022 Housing

If you are a student on the waiting list for Fall housing:

We sent a waiting list email update on 4/8/2022. We will continue to send out weekly waiting list updates via email. This email was sent to the student email addresses of all students currently on the waiting list for Residence Hall housing (this does not apply to apartment housing).

  • At this time, we cannot guarantee that anyone on the waiting list will receive housing. Fall semester housing is very limited and extremely competitive. We are doing all we can to clear as many open spaces as we can.
  • In the meantime, we recommend students explore our Off-campus housing resources page to find housing off campus. Additionally, we recommend searching Boise Housing facebook groups for assistance as well.

If you wish to cancel your Housing or Housing Application:

Please log in to your Housing Portal. Navigate back to your completed Fall Housing Application and select the option within that says “I wish to cancel my application” If you are having difficulty doing so, please email us for assistance. Please note that cancelling before you receive an assignment will entitle you to a refund of the $100 down payment.

Otherwise, if you receive an assignment after June 15, you must cancel within 72 hours of receiving that assignment to be eligible for a refund and to avoid any cancellation fees.

If you have questions about housing payments and financial aid:

Housing Billing will be posted to all appropriate student accounts on July 1, 2022. Please note that all other questions relating to financial aid or loan disbursement must be directed to the Financial Aid office.

Why isn’t my Waiting List Position Changing?

We update Waiting list numbers every week. Movement in the waiting list is dependent upon two things:

  • Students who have housing for the Fall cancelling their assignments
  • Students ahead of you on the waiting list cancelling their housing applications

If your position is not changing from week to week, it is because there are no cancellations happening. As mentioned above, we cannot guarantee any students on the waiting list a housing assignment.

Finally, if you’re inquiring on behalf of a student, the information we share is limited by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Students will need to submit a Privacy Release form for us to release details about their housing status.
