New Events Calendar System: Localist

The Office of Information Technology is pleased to introduce Localist, a new event calendaring system designed to centralize event management and streamline event discovery for the campus community.

Localist replaces The Events Calendar Pro.

About Localist

Localist consolidates events into calendars on university websites, making it easier for our Boise State community and the public to stay informed about campus happenings.

Key Features

Centralized Event Management

Localist simplifies event organization by providing a unified platform to manage and display events on the University Events Calendar. It integrates seamlessly with Boise State’s WordPress sites, offering colleges and departments a streamlined way to share their events.

Easy Event Submission

Faculty and staff can submit events to Localist for inclusion in college or departmental calendars without needing administrative access. Submissions are reviewed by site administrators for approval, ensuring a consistent and organized event hierarchy.

Hierarchical Workflow

Localist promotes efficiency through a recommended event hierarchy. Colleges can maintain overarching calendars, while departments publish their specific events within categorized sections. This approach minimizes the overhead of managing multiple independent calendars.

Dynamic Display Options

The Localist Events Widget allows colleges, programs, and departments to embed their calendars on Boise State web pages. Additionally, the system supports an Events block feature, enabling the display of events from external sources.
