Salesforce Marketing Cloud Project Kickoff

The Office of Information Technology is excited to announce the beginning of a multi-year project to implement Salesforce, a Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) system that tracks, manages, and reports on different types of interactions with prospective or current students, and other customers and organizations.

The initial phase of the project involves the launch of Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SMC) in collaboration with the Office of Communications and Marketing. SMC is a mass email marketing application designed to plan, personalize, and optimize mass email messages and campaigns.

Highlights of Salesforce Marketing Cloud include:

  • Create professional-looking, custom HTML emails or build messages from templates.
  • Track and report on email performance, such as open rates and bounce information.
  • Manage dynamic lists.
  • Schedule email sends.

According to Lauren Griswold, AVP for Communications and Marketing, SMC will play a key role in a new strategic communication and marketing plan for the university. “I’m excited for us to take the first steps to implement Salesforce Marketing Cloud,” said Griswold. “I’ve seen how powerful a tool it can be for a university — aligning marketing and communication efforts across the enterprise.”

SMC is intended to become the primary digital communication platform for Boise State, and will eventually replace other email and social media platforms used for marketing campaigns and mass communications. (SMC is not intended to replace the university’s use of Gmail.)

Use of SMC is limited to the Office of Communications and Marketing during the initial launch phase. After the launch is complete, additional information will be made available to university divisions about training opportunities and utilization of Salesforce Marketing Cloud for mass email campaigns.
