Sharing Settings in Google Drive

Boise State University has two domains. Faculty and staff (including student employees) use the @boisestate.edu domain and students use the @u.boisestate.edu domain.

How do two domains affect sharing files in Google Drive?

To share with other employees, you can add them individually by name or select the “Boise State University – Apps for Employees” option to share with the @boisestate.edu domain. Students will not have access to files with this setting.

To share with students, they must either be added individually or “Anyone with this link” must be selected.

Other Sharing Options

Google provides additional options for sharing files. By default, Editors have rights to change permissions and share files or folders. Additionally, Viewers and Commenters have the ability to download, print, and copy documents.

To change these selections, click the blue Share button in the top-right corner of the document and click the Settings (gear) icon.

Remove the checkmarks from the settings you wish to change.
