Google Groups

Google Groups provides team mailing lists and hosts internal discussions.

Specific features include:

  • Group Role Management: Group managers can moderate messages, specify to whom replies are sent, activate a Group’s discussion archive, and allow people outside Boise State to send messages to their Groups.
  • Membership Management: Members can easily manage their Group memberships. For example, they can choose the type of subscription they want, including full email, abridged email, digest email, or no email. Members can also unsubscribe from any Group.
  • Discussion Archives: All messages sent to a Group can be archived on a Discussion page, so members with Boise State accounts always have quick access to important past communications. Members can also post messages directly on the Discussion page.

Google Groups Security

Google Groups are configured as private at Boise State, meaning people outside the University must request access through Group owners, and Group owners must manually add those external members to the Group.

Group owners can review how to manually add external members to private Groups by visiting the Google Workspace Learning Center.

If you require mailing list/listserv functionality that Google Groups at Boise State does not provide, please contact the Help Desk for assistance or recommendations. You may also consider creating a Google Group with a personal Google account if you want access to all of the features of a public Google Group.

Access Google Groups

Access Google Groups by logging into BroncoMail or Google Workspace through myBoiseState.
