Security Software

The Office of Information Technology offers services and software designed to protect University computers from threats and vulnerabilities.

AntiVirus Software

All Boise State-owned computers are required to have antivirus software installed and current when attaching to the University network, per University policy.

Students

Students using Windows 10 have Windows Defender installed, which is a fine antivirus solution.

For other devices, software such as BitDefender is recommended.

A free product available is Avira Free Antivirus, although you should be sure to uncheck the Ask Toolbar during installation, and uninstall its browser extension.
