1. Policy Purpose

To establish requirements for an additional baccalaureate degree or double major.

2. Policy Statement

This policy ensures a uniform procedure is in place for obtaining an additional baccalaureate degree or earning a double major.

3. Responsibilities and Procedures

3.1 Additional Baccalaureate Degrees

3.1.1 Credit Hour Requirement

A minimum of thirty (30) additional semester hours of resident work beyond the hours acquired for the first degree is required for each subsequent degree. This does not apply to double majors.

3.1.2 Major Field Requirements

Satisfaction of all requirements in the major field selected is required for the additional degree. University Foundation requirements are not required for second and subsequent baccalaureate degrees.

3.2 Double Majors

A student may be granted a single baccalaureate degree with more than one major if all requirements are satisfied for both each major and the degree sought.

a. Double majors earned simultaneously that result in the same degree (such as a BA in English and History) do not require the additional thirty (30) semester hours.

b. Double majors earned simultaneously that result in the student earning two different degrees (such as a BBA in Accounting and a BA in English) do not require the additional thirty (30) semester hours.
