Need work experience, or looking for an opportunity to network with professionals in an industry you’re interested in? Consider applying for an internship!

Why Do an Internship?

Internships are an excellent way to gain work experience, develop skills that employers are looking for, network and make valuable connections, explore a potential career path, industry, or organization, and earn upper-division credit.

What Is the Time Commitment?

Internships require approximately 45 hours of work for each hour of academic credit awarded. Generally, you can expect to work 10 to 20 hours per week during the semester. Additionally, all students completing internships are required to enroll in an internship course, in which you will complete weekly assignments and log the hours you’ve worked.

Do I Have to Register for Credit?

Yes, you must register for academic credit if you want to complete an internship.

How Many Credits Can I Take?

No more than 12 credits earned in internships may be used to meet university graduation requirements. Additionally, you cannot earn more than 6 credits for a given internship experience, or earn more than 6 internship credits in a given semester.

How Do I Apply?

There are two ways to complete an internship for credit:

  • Participating in Boise State’s Work U program
