Kara Brascia
Service-Learning Director
Duties: faculty support and recognition, program strategy and oversight, campus collaborations
Kara came to Boise State in 2000 from a nationally ranked Service-Learning program at the University of Utah. She brings over twenty years of experience consulting with faculty, students, and community agencies. Kara earned her bachelor’s degree from Macalester College in Minnesota and her master’s degree in Communication from the University of Utah.

Mike Stefancic
(He,Him,His) Assistant Director of Community Partnerships
Duties: Community Partnerships, Community Work-study management, Logistical systems management
Mike has worked for the Service-Learning program for over 5 years in student support and during summer 2018 transitioned his skills into developing community partnerships. Before Boise State, Mike managed Plant and Fire programs for the Student Conservation Association across the country after completing his M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Washington. Previous to working in the education field, Mike studied the effects of fire on plant communities across the western landscape for a variety of government agencies. Mike is a daily bike commuter, community organizer, and outdoor enthusiast.

Erin Rausch
(She, Her, Hers) Coordinator for Student Support
Duties: service-learning student support, community student employment, classroom & instructor support during the service-learning semester
Erin started with the Boise State Service-Learning program in November 2018. Erin has earned a M.S. in Health Education, focusing on adolescence and substance abuse and prior to coming to Boise State she directed University of the Pacific’s community center focusing on leadership, education, and service where her work has focused on community building, service, social advocacy, student development and leadership. Erin has been a foster parent, distance hiker, and wants nothing more than for folks to become educated citizens of our global community.
Duties: service-learning student support, community student employment, classroom & instructor support during the service-learning semester

Bethanny Schneiderman
Service-Learning Ambassador
Duties: Supports Service-Learning programming, outreach, and student support
Bethanny joined the Service-Learning team in August 2021. She is an undergraduate seeking a Bachelors in Fine Arts in Film and Television Arts. Bethanny enjoys helping students find valuable ways to learn about themselves while serving their community.

Kaitlyn Bishop
(She/Her) Student Employment Graduate Assistant
Duties: hiring, onboarding, training, and supporting SL employees as they work throughout our communities.
Kaitlyn is working towards her M.A. in Interdisciplinary studies. She aims to look at societal issues from a systemic lens. Kaitlyn holds her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Boise State University. Kaitlyn brings experience from non-profit organizations, such as the ACLU of Idaho and Witness to Innocence. She enjoys working with student employees and learning more about their passions and interests.

Annie Ponce
Community Partnership Graduate Assistant
Duties: community partner outreach and capacity building development, logistical support of the service-learning program and student employees.
Annie is pursuing her Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration at Boise State University, exploring research interests in women studies, non-profit organizations, migration, and public opinion. She has earned an undergraduate degree of International Relations and a master’s degree in Political Science before coming to Boise. Annie brings international working and volunteer experience from governmental and non-profit organizations, thus enjoys contributing to community development, traveling, learning about different cultures, and giving a little towards making this world a better place for all living beings.
