Cornwall presents on opportunities for court interpreters during the pandemic

Fatima Cornwall, clinical assistant professor in the Department of World Languages, along with Chris Dimmick and Maria Isabel Rodriguez, all Spanish certified court interpreters, recently collaborated on a presentation at the 43rd annual National Association of Interpreters in the Judiciary conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Their interactive panel titled “When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Mojitos: Opportunities During the Pandemic” discussed the pandemic perks they experienced professionally. The. presenters detailed how they each increased their client base, honed their interpretation skills, broadened their language skills, improved client education efforts, expanded their outreach, found solutions to ethical challenges, stepped up their organizational skills and stretched their working knowledge of technology.
