Student Outreach and Assistance provides program overviews and skills training presentations about barriers to success our students are facing and the resources in place to support them. The following is a list of our offerings currently available upon request:
Basic Needs of Students
This program overview will provide a brief overview of research and data related to food and housing insecurity among college students, as well as resources on campus that are addressing basic needs. Additionally, information will be provided on what ways that you can help reduce stigma and get students connected with resources.

Campus Assessment, Resource, and Education (CARE)
This program overview of CARE will include the purpose/mission, data and trends, how to report concerns, what to report, and the process and actions that might take place after a CARE alert is submitted.

Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) – Screener Tool
This skills training will provide a brief overview of data on suicide and a screener tool that participants can use to evaluate the level of risk for suicide. Participants will leave this training with an understanding of the prevalence of suicide, how to administer the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale Screener Tool, and how to effectively refer to appropriate resources.

Peers Supporting Peers: Student Leader Training
This skills training is intended for all student leaders on campus as a part of a campus-wide initiative to create a trauma-informed campus. During the training, student leaders will learn what trauma is, their role as a trauma-informed Boise State University representative, and a basic framework for how to offer trauma-informed support while staying within their scope of practice.
Suggested for: All student leaders, student organizations, student clubs, etc.
