Why Boise State?
Our Focus
The Department of Anthropology at Boise State is a regional hub for evolutionary anthropology where students pursue original research in archaeology, biological anthropology, and human behavioral ecology.
Our Faculty
Many students work closely with faculty to develop their own innovative research project that builds scientific research expertise while also preparing them for future Ph.D. or employment positions.
Our Scope
Student project opportunities include fieldwork in global settings including Africa and Asia, analyzing large-scale national and international datasets, analysis of skeletal remains, and archaeological investigations across the Northwest, among others.
Our Support
Financial support opportunities include Graduate Teaching Assistantships that cover in-state tuition, out-of-state tuition waivers, health insurance, and competitive stipends; WICHE in-state tuition rates; scholarships, including the Schaertly Archaeology Scholarship in Archaeology; and part-time, hourly employment in research and teaching. Our research infrastructure includes laboratory facilities, dedicated computing, and a Center for Applied Archaeological Sciences.
Demonstrated Success
Our graduates are employed across the country in the federal sector as cultural resource managers, as experts in non-governmental organizations worldwide, as instructors in higher education, and in private industry.
