Canvas Transition Updates

Representation of Blackboard on a laptop computer migrating to Canvas on a laptop computer

The transition from Blackboard to Canvas is well underway and we are on track to be teaching and learning in Canvas for Fall 2021. Select classes have been migrated to use Canvas for Summer 2021 sessions and the LTS Transition Team will complete migration of all Fall 2021 courses this summer.

OIT Development Teams are completing Middleware 2.0 for Canvas that includes features found in Middleware 1.0 for Blackboard updated to work with Canvas.

Instructors can expect an email from LTS as soon as their courses are available in Canvas. The email provides information on how to access courses, links to learning resources and instructors can schedule a one-on-one personalized orientation to review their courses.

Instructors can learn how to create a sandbox course and take advantage of Canvas training opportunities including self-paced courses, LTS-led webinars and a Canvas-led training for faculty on April 29 on the Canvas project website.

Additionally, The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and eCampus Center provide consultations to assist in refining Canvas courses to optimize navigation, instructor presence, student communication, and content engagement. If you would like to work with an Instructional Design Consultant, please contact the CTL (for in-person/hybrid courses) or eCampus Center (for online courses).

For additional details about the transition to Canvas visit the Canvas project website or contact LTS at lts@boisestate.edu.
