Professor Michael Allen’s research and teaching focus on areas of conflict (both between states and states and non-state actors), power disparity, and methodology. Allen earned his Ph.D. from Binghamton University and his B.A. from the University of Puget Sound.
Research and Publications
Dr. Allen’s research has appeared in The American Political Science Review, International Studies Quarterly, The Journal of Conflict Resolution, and Foreign Policy Analysis. His research focuses on questions of international asymmetry in arenas including conflict and cooperation. This includes topics that explore war, resistance, alliances, and economics (including trade and debt). A primary focus of Dr. Allen’s work is the deployment of service members overseas. This research explores the positive and negative effects of deployments as well as the perceptions of those effects.
