This resource list is compiled by the Boise State University Gender Equity Center. Special thanks to students in Trans Alliance, Dianne Piggott and everyone else who has shared their positive experiences with providers in the community listed in this guide. Providers have volunteered to be listed or were recommended by students or their colleagues. This list is constantly under revision in order to stay relevant to a growing Boise community. We try our best in order to keep this resource updated. If you’ve suggested a resource or volunteered as a provider, it may take some time for it to be reflected.

Human Resources

Employees can change their preferred name by logging on to the HR System (Peoplesoft). Select ‘Personal Information’ then ‘Names’. This will change the name on all university documents. Employees with a legal name change will need to provide an updated social security card and complete a Name Change Request form through the Human Resources office. Employees will need to contact OIT to change their email address.

Information Desk

Students can receive a replacement Bronco ID card to update their chosen or legal name at no cost. Bring a valid ID with your name to the Information Desk in the Student Union Building.

Change Your Username

Office of the Registrar

Students that would like to update their legal or preferred name can submit a Student Name Update form to the Registrar. Students looking to update their gender in university systems will need to complete an Information Update Form and provide a valid driver’s license, passport with gender marker, immigration documents, birth certificate or certified copy of court records.

Pride Alliance

This student organization provides a safe space for students of all backgrounds. Pride Alliance is open to everyone. They offer social events such as movie nights, game nights and craft nights. Additionally, the Pride Alliance plans to create opportunities in education and advocacy for the LGBTQIA+ community. Queer STEM Club

The Queer STEM Club (QSTEM) seeks to connect LGBTQIA+ students across many different STEM disciplines in a safe and comfortable environment so that they may find community within their classes as well as in their future career fields. Idaho Birth Certificate Changes

People born in Idaho can apply to change the indicator of sex on their birth certificate to match their gender identity and can update the name on the birth certificate after a legal name change.
