eduroam is the WiFi Network for Students, Faculty, and Staff
All university students, faculty and staff should use the Boise State eduroam wireless network when on campus.
The eduroam network is encrypted and secure, and requires you to authenticate once with your Boise State username and password. (You don’t have to authenticate again until your next password change.)
Residents and guests in Housing and Residence facilities should use the eduroam network for wireless internet access in the rooms and other residence locations.
Other connection options are available for devices that are unable to connect to eduroam.
The Bronco-Guest network is intended for friends and guests of Boise State.
Bronco-Guest is designed to allow open access to internet resources for seven days at a time. Bronco-Guest does not require a username or password; therefore it is an unsecured network.
Because this network is unsecured, we strongly recommend Boise State students, faculty and staff use the eduroam wireless network for the best campus wireless experience.
Bronco-Guest should never be used when sensitive, personal and/or financial data is transmitted as there always exists the possibility other people on the network may employ malicious tools or methods to capture that information.
I cannot connect my device to the eduroam network.
Connecting to eduroam for the first time and ensuring a reliable, robust ongoing wireless experience throughout campus requires running the eduroam Configuration Tool:
If you have any problems connecting your device to the eduroam network, contact the Help Desk (see info below) or visit one of our Zone locations in the Student Union Building or Interactive Learning Center.
My device connects to eduroam, but won't stay connected.
Please run the eduroam Configuration Tool to ensure you are properly connected to the eduroam WiFi network:
Please report any connection issues to the Help Desk (see info below). The more specific you are (building, exact location, time of day, etc.), the better we can help.
How can I make eduroam come up as the default wireless connection at Boise State?
Your device needs to “forget” the Bronco-Guest network. If you remove Bronco-Guest as a known wireless connection, eduroam should become the default connection.
Great question! It has something to do with a requirement that the eduroam SSID is spelled consistently at all institutions using the system.
I reset my Boise State password and now can't access the eduroam network on my iPhone/iPad.
If your iOS device is configured to Auto-Join the eduroam wireless network, you may need to disable the Auto-Join setting before you can enter your new password to connect to eduroam.
Here’s how:
Open to the Settings app and select Wi-Fi.
Tap the small (i) next to the eduroam network name.
Turn off the switch next to “Auto-Join”
Connect to the eduroam network and enter your new password where prompted.
After you successfully authenticate you can go back to Settings > Wi-Fi, tap the small (i) next to eduroam, and switch “Auto-Join” back on.
Bronco-Guest
Why is Bronco-Guest not a secure network, unlike eduroam?
Bronco-Guest is provided as short-term complimentary access for guests and friends of the University.
If guests and friends do not want to use Bronco-Guest due to security concerns, they can use a cellular connection instead.
Why can't I access TikTok?
The State of Idaho has banned TikTok from being accessed on state networks and systems, including Boise State’s wireless and wired networks.
Why can't I use BitTorrent?
BitTorrent is unavailable on all Boise State campus networks.
