MSGC Events and Course Module Schedules
Teaching Support
Boise State has collected a go-to source for educators to find appropriate services to meet their needs on the Support for Instructors page. Teaching faculty are encouraged to participate in as many professional development opportunities as they are able. The Center for Teaching and Learning provides numerous workshops and events both in person and in a virtual format for instructors. These programs focus on best practices in teaching, colleague engagement, and individualized consultations. The Center for Teaching and Learning also provides a mid-semester assessment, conducted by the eCampus team for online courses, to assist individual faculty in improving their teaching performance. In addition, eCampus offers faculty development opportunities specifically geared towards faculty who teach online. These include courses, webinars, seminars, and communities of practice which can be applied toward achieving online teaching certificates with stipends provided.
Student Support
The Graduate College offers several programs and resources designed to promote community engagement and aid all graduate students at Boise State. The Student Success Center can support students with writing as well as the English Language Support Program. Students are able to use Academic Support Services for test taking and study preparation. Faculty are encouraged to contact the program director for additional support as well.
Program information
Boise State University’s MS in Genetic Counseling program is dedicated to developing and supporting a diverse student population. The coursework is designed for genetic counselors by genetic counselors and informed by other relevant professionals thereby allowing for adaptation and personalization for the discipline. Graduates will have extensive experience with online education and gain skills to use technology in the delivery of genetic services.
Courses have been designed using the Online Course Production Model. This process utilizes a multi-expert team to produce a high-quality online master course from which multiple highly qualified faculty can teach. Master course creation integrates diverse university resources to ensure the courses meet national standards and guidelines, including those related to copyright, accessibility, regular and substantive interaction with students (Higher Education Opportunity Act), and online course quality (based on Quality Matters™ Higher Education Standards, nationally recognized standards used to guide online course design).
