Social Media Content Accessibility Checklist
Please use this checklist before posting to ensure your content is accessible to everyone.
Images
- Images have a text alternative (apps like Instagram and X provide sections for alternative text. If unavailable, provide alt text in the caption.)
- Images do not contain text (any image with text should be in alt text and include essential information in the caption)

Video and Audio Media
- Media has a text alternative available in the post caption
- Media does not rely on video or audio to present essential information
- Videos have captions (and/or descriptive text if all or parts of the video have no dialogue) (auto-captions have been reviewed and edited for clarity)

Media Captions and Descriptions
- Captions accurately reflect the purpose of the post
- Hashtags use camel case (for example, #MakeAccessibleContent)
- Emojis are used decoratively and sparingly (screen readers read emoji descriptions out loud. Emoji spam can be frustrating for users)
