Get Ready For New Student Orientation

Welcome to Boise State University!

Academic advising is an important part of your orientation process. During New Student Orientation, students meet academic advisors to discuss courses and plan your semester schedule. Your orientation advising experience will go even better if you prepare for it. Here’s how:

New Student Orientation and Academic Advising

  • For all Virtual Orientation programs, students will schedule a day and time for their academic advising session. Communications will be sent prior to the advising session with information on required action items to complete as well as reminders of the advising session.
  • Day One for First-Year programs focus on placement consultations based on your chosen major. Academic advisors from each college will discuss Math, English, and University Foundations courses that you may choose to enroll in. You will also be asked about any prior learning credit you potentially have received. (Summer Only)
  • Day Two of First-Year programs will be set-up for you to meet with academic advisors for group advising sessions that focus on creating a viable first semester schedule. Please bring a laptop to your advising session. Registration support will be provided this day as well! (Summer Only)
