Minors On Campus Program

Updates for Spring 2026:

  • Background checks to be re-run every 3 years: Due to the sensitive nature of working with minors, any individual interacting with or participating with minors in a University program must now have a background check on file, which was completed within the last 3 years. Individuals whose background check is older than 3 years will be sent an email from NoReply@HireRight.com to complete a new background check.
  • Partnership with Teamworks: We have partnered with Teamworks to provide a platform for participant registration, payment, and participant/parent contact. To use Teamworks for your upcoming program, please reach out to Maggie Burke, the Minors on Campus Coordinator, at protectionofminors@boisestate.edu.
  • Youth Protection training in Fall of 2026: We look forward to offering a full-day, in-person training session containing topics such as staff hiring practices, working with neurodivergent kids/teens, and emergency planning. We are partnering with Praesidium, an industry leader in minor abuse prevention training, and key individuals across campus to deliver the session content. The training will be free for Boise State University employees. To receive more information and to be notified when registration opens, please complete this form.

Boise State University is committed to providing a safe and caring environment for the protection of all minors who visit the university’s campus and facilities. The Minors on Campus Program Coordinator in the Office of Compliance and Ethics works with campus departments and units to develop best practices, provide training on the protection of minors (including the code of conduct for interacting with minors), and assist camps and programs in ensuring that the appropriate background verifications and training certifications are completed.

Idaho law requires anyone who suspects child abuse and neglect to report it immediately to either (1) law enforcement or (2) the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

If a child may be in imminent harm, immediately dial 9-1-1 or activate a blue emergency phone located on campus.
